The 10 Levels of Elite Communication
Introduction
What separates average communicators from elite ones?
It’s not natural talent.
It’s sequencing the right skills, at the right time.
Communication is your ultimate force multiplier.
If your expertise is a 10, but how you express it is a 4, you will still be seen as a 4.
It’s the hidden ceiling in most careers, especially at the top.
The 10 Levels
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 1: 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 (ie, concise, clear and compelling; whether it’s an email or a post, your writing becomes an asset.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 2: 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 (no more aimless discussions; you lead focused, outcome-driven meetings that people enjoy.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 3: 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 (you make complexity understandable; speak with structure; driving action, not just attention.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 4: 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 (you get to the point; leave no room for confusion.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 5: 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (you shift from providing facts and figures to creating narratives that influence and inspire.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 6: 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (from feedback to conflict, you bring calm, clarity and confidence.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 7: 𝐄𝐱𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (you walk in and own the room, ie with voice, body and words aligned.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 8: 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 (you don’t just present – you move the room with your energy and storytelling.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 9: 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚 (your message travels well, ie from Zoom calls to recorded keynotes.)
𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 10: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 (you become a public thinker – shaping conversations and attracting opportunities.)
NB 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭: 𝘜𝘴𝘦 𝘈𝘐 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵;: from brainstorming to drafting, AI becomes your strategic communication partner.
NB Most Leaders Never Reach Level 6
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝:
1. Record and review yourself – even a Zoom call works.
2. Focus on just one skill at a time.
3. Get real feedback – from a coach or trusted peer.
Then repeat. That’s how you hit Level 10.
